FAQ

Are Cordyceps capsules suitable for children (13 years, 30-35 kg) and if so, how much can they take?
– In principle, Cordyceps is also suitable for children older than 3 years, that is, if they really need it. We recommend that it be used only for as long as is really necessary. You can calculate the dose according to body weight, taking into account that an adult weighs about 60-70 kg, and the recommended dosage of Cordyceps extract is 3 x 2 capsules per day.

I would like to know how long I can continuously consume Cordyceps mushrooms? They are very useful, but the information regarding consumption is very different.
- We recommend three-week courses, that is, if there are no long-term problems that require longer consumption. In principle, however, our customers and the literature do not report any more serious unwanted side effects of Cordyceps. Some report that after a longer period of consumption, the effect of Cordyceps on the organism decreases, so shorter periods of use are recommended.

Is it true that products made from mushroom powder are less effective than extracts from the same mushrooms because they are not absorbed by the body?
- In principle, the body has to invest more energy in the decomposition and absorption of the powder than in the decomposition and absorption of the extracts, but the powder undoubtedly has a wider spectrum of activity. This is because during extraction, many substances are destroyed due to cooking and drying, and many active substances are thrown away (all that are not soluble in water and not soluble in ethanol - if it is an ethanol extraction).
During extraction, the material is heated and thermally destroyed, and more than 80% of the substances, which also have a beneficial effect on the body, are discarded. One such substance is fungal fibers, which bind toxins, heavy metals and radioactive elements in the digestive tract and thus detoxify. At the same time, fiber supports the development of beneficial microorganisms in the gastrointestinal tract.

Can mushroom preparations really cause allergies?
- Such cases are extremely rare. However, with long-term consumption of large doses, slight itching may occur, which disappears when consumption is stopped or the dose is reduced.

Do you need to store your medicinal mushroom products in the dark? Your sales items are in dark bottles - is this necessary to maintain quality?
– In principle, medicinal mushroom products are not sensitive to sunlight. It is more important to keep them in a dry and cool place. The dark bottle definitely helps to preserve the quality of the products.

Can I consume medicinal mushroom preparations continuously all the time?
– Medicinal mushroom preparations are recommended to be consumed for about three weeks twice a year. Preferably in autumn and spring. A longer period of use is recommended for long-term problems, but with shorter breaks of a few days, which should be extended when the problems begin to disappear. The purpose of medicinal mushroom preparations is not to consume them continuously, but only as a kind of support.

Can the simultaneous consumption of medicinal mushrooms and other dietary supplements lead to contraindications?
- In principle, contraindications in such cases are unknown. In any case, the simultaneous consumption of several nutritional supplements at the same time is not recommended, as this excessively burdens the organism and can cause nausea. We suggest that you always take a break of at least two hours between taking two nutritional supplements. We do not recommend taking vitamin C in addition to medicinal mushroom products.

Your Cordyvit product is labeled as a vegetarian product. I wonder if this means that no animals were "used" in the process of growing this mushroom, which would have died in the process? Is the product entirely of non-animal origin and thus also suitable for vegans?
– Our Cordyceps is 100% vegetarian or vegan. No animals were used or killed in the production process.

I would like to know if I can also use nutritional supplements from medicinal mushrooms for my dog?
- Most of the types of medicinal mushrooms available on the market have already been frequently tested on various types of animals and in most cases they prove to be extremely effective in strengthening the immune system, eliminating allergies and skin diseases of "unknown" cause, viral and bacterial infections and similarly. So far, we have not come across any information that nutritional supplements made from medicinal mushrooms could harm animals in any way, but we know of many cases where a wide variety of diseases, including chronic ones, have been eliminated in animals using them.

My dog (allergic) ate the first bottle of Myco Dog Immun, but now I'm wondering if it can be given all the time or is it better to have a break in between?
- After two months or less of taking mushrooms, it is recommended to take a break if possible - unless it is a chronic problem where the break needs to be carefully planned due to the potential for a relapse. If you use them preventively, we recommend two at least one month long courses per year.

Do these mushrooms put a strain on the liver - even before using the mushroom, my dog had elevated concentrations of liver enzymes several times?
- Mushrooms have a hepatoprotective effect, which means that they accelerate liver regeneration and detoxification of the body, not the other way around. But it is true that they affect liver enzymes - positively, of course.

CULTIVATION OF MUSHROOMS ON TRUNKS

If the trunks are cut into smaller pieces and we sprinkle mycelium between them and put them back together and protect them with food foil, it is not clear to me whether we wrap the foil only over this assembled place or over the entire trunk?
– Protect the trunks only at the cut ends, not over the entire trunk. Access to pests and drying out must be prevented only on the part of the trunk where you "damaged" it by applying mycelium to it.

Is it necessary to protect the ends of the trunks with wax after the mycelium is applied to them, or can it be wrapped only with foil?
– You can only protect the ends of the trunks with foil, but in this case you must protect it from sunlight, because the trunk gets very hot under the foil.

Does mycelium even need oxygen to grow? I assume that the mushrooms need it for their growth and that is why it is necessary to remove the foil after they have grown.
– The mycelium needs very little oxygen to grow, so the foil does not hinder it from breathing and it is not necessary to remove it from the trunk. In time, it will fall off on its own.

Do you have a film or video content published on the subject of mushroom cultivation?

Can I grow mushrooms on tree trunks right in the living room?
– At the beginning, when the trunks are in the growth phase, we can have them in the living spaces. Later, when the mushrooms sprout, it is better to have them outdoors because of the spores they release into the environment. Large amounts of inhaled spores can cause allergies in humans.

Is it OK if I close the mycelium on wooden plugs in a hole in the trunk instead of using wax with a larger plug?
– It is best not to press the plugs deeper into the trunk, their end should be flush with the surface of the bark. But the holes in the trunk can be much longer than the plug itself - this allows the mycelium to penetrate even faster inside. We do not smear the holes with paraffin either, and the mycelium grows well over them.

A year and a half ago, I bought mycelium from you on wooden plugs and applied it to tree trunks. Recently, some "strange" mushrooms sprouted from them. Is it possible that the mycelium you sold me was dead? Why didn't the mushrooms grow from the trunks, whose mycelium I applied to them?
- Those "strange" mushrooms were most likely already in the trunk, even before you introduced the mycelium into it. This sometimes happens with trunks obtained from trees that are damaged, have broken side branches or are old (trunk diameter greater than 30cm). In such trees, many fungi are already present in the middle of the trunk, which are waiting for the day when the tree falls and start to sprout from it. Mycelium from wooden plugs is usually no match for these fungi, which have been located and growing in the trunk for years.
- It is very hard to believe that the mycelium we sold you is dead, because we grow it here from cultures of known and regularly checked quality, we keep it at a low temperature all the time, so that it does not age and die, it is renewed, cultivated however, it is always under completely sterile conditions that prevent contamination with bacteria or mold.

How much wood can I graft with one package of mycelium on wooden plugs (300 plugs)?
– With 300 plugs, you can plug about a quarter of a cubic meter of wood.

How many fresh mushrooms grow from one cubic meter of wood?
– From one cubic meter of trunk, during the entire growth period (which lasts several years), the mass of fresh mushrooms is equal to up to 20% of the mass of dry wood. This means that from one cubic meter of average wood (850 kg of dry weight, which needs to be reduced by a third because there is so much space between the trunks), 112 kg of fresh mushrooms can grow (this applies to beech oyster mushrooms).

After the renovation of the orchard, there were a few meter-long apple tree stumps left, which I think are suitable for growing mushrooms. I was thinking of drilling holes in them (slanting upwards) and stuffing plugs with mushroom mycelium in them. Do you think this method is suitable for cultivation?
- We don't have very good experience with using fruit tree stumps for growing mushrooms, because they are often torn inside or resin. If you decide to grow mushrooms anyway, we recommend that you try beech oyster mushrooms, which have an aggressive growth and will be the most suitable for the situation.

Is there a possibility that the mushrooms whose mycelium we settled on the trunks and placed in the garden would have any harmful effect on the fruit trees in that garden?
– Cultivated mushrooms, the mycelia of which we produce and sell here, are fungi and not parasites. So there is no need to worry about attacking healthy trees nearby.

I would also like to know if growing mushrooms in the cellar could have any effect on the other crops that are kept next to them?
- Spores released by mushrooms during growth can accumulate on the crops themselves, but according to our experience they will not germinate or cause other damage.

Can crops stored in the cellar have a negative impact on mushrooms grown in the same room?
– If you store fruit or potatoes in the cellar and the room does not have sufficient ventilation, the gases emitted by the fruit can have an undesirable effect on the mushrooms, which is reflected in the deformation of the caps.

When is the best time to prepare logs for growing mushrooms?
– Mycelium can be applied to wood at any time. If you use mycelium on cereal grain and apply it to wood before winter, you must protect it well from rodents and birds, because they like to eat it very much. When applying mycelium to wood in the period before winter, we must take into account that mycelium growth will stop in the winter months and resume in the spring. In proportion to this, the period of overgrowth is also extended.

When is sawn wood best for growing mushrooms?
– In principle, wood that was cut during the period of rest is more suitable. You will get a few percent more mushrooms from it. If you don't grow mushrooms en masse, the difference in yield will not be felt so strongly that it would be necessary to choose and wait for the right time to cut down the trees. We simply graft the trunks when we have the necessary wood available.

Can I use a trunk that has already snapped to grow mushrooms?
- No. The fact that the trunk has snapped means that it has already been overgrown by some other type of mushroom and will most likely prevent the growth of the mushroom that you will settle on the trunk.

Can the trunks that I grafted with mycelium be outdoors in the winter?
– Trunks grafted with the mycelium of shiitake, oysters, winter beehives, white oysters and poplars can be outdoors all the time, as these species are resistant to frost. According to our findings, Ganoderma lucidum is sensitive to frost, so it is recommended to protect trunks grafted with it from the cold.

How many mushrooms can we expect to grow from one cubic meter of wood?
- From one cubic meter of wood, we can expect up to 64 kg of fresh mushrooms during the entire growth period of a couple of years.

How long do mushrooms grow from trunks?
- According to our experience, mushrooms grow from beech trunks with a diameter of 40 cm and a length of 80 cm twice a year for up to eight years. However, this depends primarily on the type of mushroom we want to grow and the type of wood used.

Some sources also mention hardwood sawdust as a suitable substrate for growing mushrooms. Would it also work with the substrate that we get from the branch shredder, if we boil it like e.g. straw?
– Chips of hardwoods are a suitable substrate especially for oysters. However, growth will be slower and fruiting will take longer, so it is necessary to ensure that the substrate does not dry out too much during growth.

MUSHROOM GROWING WITH MUSHROOM GROWING KITS

Do you have a film or video content published on the subject of mushroom cultivation?

Does it make sense or theoretically possible to grow mushrooms for a wider market in basements?
– Growing mushrooms in basements is not difficult if you take into account the basic parameters they need to grow. If the space is small, it is best to sell the produce locally (to avoid transport), which is why it is important to perform a local market analysis beforehand.

Do mushrooms need natural lighting or can it be replaced with artificial lighting?
– Natural light can be successfully replaced with artificial light. However, mushrooms that are exposed to UV light have a much higher vitamin D content.

Do mushrooms need specific lighting or can this be done with LED lights?
- In principle, the type of lighting does not have as great an effect on mushrooms as relative air humidity, temperature and ventilation in the growing room. Mushrooms only need light lighting - if it's enough for us mushroom pickers, it's definitely enough for the mushrooms.

Is the economic calculation based on the assumption that mushrooms are grown in a regulated "artificial" environment?
– Economies of scale need to be taken into account to reduce cultivation costs. It is best to sell mushrooms locally to avoid additional logistics costs.

SHITAKES
I have a basement space 8 x 2 m, with a window and the possibility of lighting (electricity). I wonder how many mushrooms I could grow in it, if we assume that it is an additional income and that I already have customers?
– There can be about 2/3 of the shelves in the room, because we need space to walk between them. This means that we have 8m x 2m = 16m x 2/3 = 10.7 square meters of shelving in the room. The racks usually have four shelves (the distance between the shelves should be about half a meter), which means 10.7 x 4 = 43 square meters of functional space. You can place approx. 9 sets for cultivation per square meter of racks, which means that in a space of dimensions 8m x 2m you can place 9 x 10.7 x 4 = 385 sets for cultivation on racks. During the entire growing season (which can last up to six months), about 0.7 kg of mushrooms will grow from one set, which means that in such a space you can grow 385 x 0.7 kg = 269 kilograms of fresh mushrooms in half a year.

I would like to order an eco kit for growing shiitake mushrooms from you. I would like to know how long it takes for the first mushrooms to grow and approximately how long they grow? (once, one week, two...)
- The speed of growth depends in principle on the "maturity" of the substrate. In principle, mushrooms appear at room temperature within 14 days of opening the kit and reach their final size in a few days.

I am interested in the optimal conditions for resting shiitake between the first and second wave and does the substrate have to rest in the dark?
– The substrate should rest at exactly the same temperature at which the crop took place. During the resting phase, it is recommended to lower the relative air humidity to prevent mold. You can also reduce the ventilation of the room. Light, in our experience, does not have an excessive effect.

OYSTERS
Greetings, we started growing beech oyster mushrooms at home on straw and we noticed that the mushrooms are growing really fantastically, but some of the mushroom sprouts, the size of a slightly larger boletus, are drying up. Why? The conditions in the room are: Temperature 18-19°C, Humidity 80-90℅, Poor natural light, Poor ventilation,
- It is normal for some of the small mushrooms (mushroom embryos) to dry up, as the mycelium does not generate enough energy for all the mushrooms to grow to their final size. A similar phenomenon can be observed in fruit trees, when part of the fruit is diluted so that it simply falls off the tree because the tree does not have enough energy to ripen all the fruit. We suggest that you spray the little sponges by hand once a day and if they continue to grow, it means that the air humidity is too low, although I doubt it, since you have a slightly low relative humidity in the room.

I would also like to know if a UV lamp is needed for artificial lighting or if it can be something else.
– Conventional lamps are sufficient for illumination and additional illumination with a UV lamp is not necessary.

CHAMPIONS
How many mushrooms do I get from one mushroom growing kit?
– From one mushroom growing kit, under ideal conditions, it grows about 0.7 kg of mushrooms during the entire growing period.

How many times do mushrooms grow from one mushroom growing kit?

– This depends on the cultivation method, but under ideal circumstances, the mushrooms from the set sprout three times.

CULTIVATION OF OYSTERS ON STRAW WITH MYCELIUM ON CEREAL GRAIN

Do you have a film or video content published on the subject of mushroom cultivation?
– Here you can watch video content on the topic of mushroom cultivation: http://www.goba.eu/knjiznica/video-vsebine/gojenje-gob/

Does the straw we irrigate, cook, etc. have to be wheat straw, or can it also be barley straw or some other grain?
- In principle, wheat straw is more suitable because it is more airy, but you can also use other types of straw, oysters even grow on hay.

Mushrooms have already started to grow in the sterile bag in which you sell the mycelium on the cereal grain. Are these mushrooms thrown away, or are they scattered on the straw along with the seeds?
– Small sponges with mycelium can be mixed into the pasteurized straw without any worries, as the mycelium will grow from them again.

I use 35 kg PVC bags for mushroom reproduction. If I notice that green mold has appeared in a straw bag on one side, and real mushrooms are growing on the other side, does such a bag have perspective or not?
– If the substrate is moldy on one side, cover that side in such a way that mold spores cannot spread through the air to the substrate in other bags.
